Volunteer at the Kittery Historical & Naval Museum

Volunteers are essential to the Museum. Here, volunteers make it happen!

  • Looking for a place to apply your skills, experience, or subject knowledge?
    We have engaging projects.
  • Looking for a way to help with no previous experience needed?
    We provide orientation.

You'll find it's easy and rewarding to spend a little time at the Museum. Our members all appreciate Kittery and we enjoy learning its colorful history.

Here are some ideas for using your time and talent at the Museum:

Operations =greeters and docents during open hours
Membership =be a member, get members-only benefits
Programs =organize cultural and educational events
Collections =curate documents and artifacts (data entry)
Research =gather materials and assist with genealogy
Facilities =help to maintain our building and grounds
Finance =apply for grants and assist our treasurer
Technology =innovate Museum displays and applications

We enjoy Kittery's history, collecting its artifacts and telling its stories. The Museum is open to the public for our season which runs from April through November. We also offer community events and educational activities, year-round.

Volunteering is a good way to make new friends and enrich the community. Most of our jobs can be done in only a few hours a week. Scheduling is flexible. Why wait until April (National Volunteer Month)? Join us in time for open-up!

We are about Kittery

We seek to create greater awareness of the history of Kittery, its role in American history, and our cultural and maritime heritage. We welcome suggestions for events and exhibits that are consistent with our mission. Thanks for participating in the Museum!
