Volunteer at the Kittery Historical & Naval Museum

You are invited to join our Museum crew. Here, volunteers make it happen!

  • This is a place to apply your skills, experience, or subject knowledge.
    — We have engaging projects.
  • You can help with an easy commitment and without previous experience.
    — We provide orientation.

Our members all appreciate Kittery. We enjoy learning its colorful history, collecting its artifacts, and telling its stories.

You'll find it's easy and rewarding to spend a little time at the Museum. Our volunteers are helping in several ways:

Operations =greeters and docents during open hours
Members =be a member, get members-only benefits
Programs =organize cultural and educational events
Collections =curate documents and artifacts (data entry)
Research =gather materials and assist with genealogy
Facilities =help to maintain our building and grounds
Funding =apply for grants and assist our treasurer
Technology =innovate Museum displays and applications

Volunteers are mostly needed during our open season, which runs from April through November. We also offer community events and educational activities, year-round.

Volunteering is a good way to make new friends and enrich the community. Most of our jobs can be done in only a few hours a week. Scheduling is flexible. Join us any time!

We are about Kittery

We seek to create greater awareness of the history of Kittery, its role in American history, and our cultural and maritime heritage. We welcome suggestions for events and exhibits that are consistent with our mission. Thanks for participating in the Museum!
